“Image / Alternative Eye” Grouping
Coming with the end of the July is the mainstream press’s blooming reportage on 10-year-anniversary for Hong Kong’s handover. In terms of the Hong Kong cinema, David Bordwell once commented as “All too extravagant, all too gratuitously wild”, which still has provoked much thoughts in us. Inspired by the keen in Hong Kong cinema and complex emotions towards it, we three film-lovers decide to set up a group blog: “Alternative Eye”.
We establish this blog in the hope to set up a communication channel, centered around Hong Kong and global film culture, through which film-lovers are free to express their feelings and thoughts about the film and culture. In the meantime, this blog is intended to stand for our belief in a better cinema!
Now, we invite you to join us, to speak out your mind, to write down your thoughts. Let us experience the power of words!
The topic of the first issue of “Alternative Eye” is “Hong Kong Cinema: 10 years after 1997-handover”. If you are fond of Hong Kong film, or just have some thoughts about Hong Kong film, you are all welcome to send us your writings about it, better off with connection to the post-handover Hong Kong cinema. Anyway, there is no limit of form, length, or language. We may update the blog anytime once some interesting writings are received. You may contact us through our Emails and MSN listed below.
The Topic for the next issue will be released in the current issue as early as possible. Please pay a nod to it as you may be interested to discuss and write about it, and send them to us.
