于是，我莫名其妙的开始回想一部看了N遍的Run Rola Run.
The whole film is like someone is playing a computer game. The plot can be reactted and redone over and over again if the player is not satisfied with the result. Starting from the very beginning with a football, the player Rola is about to make choices at various points. It seems the routs she runs past for three times are more or less the same. Actually, they vary from each other as Rola makes different detours each time in an attempt to run against the time. In the film, not only the clock is the time marker, the bankguard's lines, the passers-by's position, the cars, the glass porters...can all be the time markders. Rola is running to adjust the time meeting them. She assums that she is running toward a destination and won't be distractted by others, but she is distracted by their passers-by and her and the kit to her boyfriend's problem is hidden in the streets. She is unaware of the fact that the whole world is also running as she is and she is unable to outrun the every possibe chance.
"Who are we? What makes us think what we are?"...these kinds of life-matter questions set the tone for the film as it talks about how life goes on and what we are in comparison to the life as the life is departed from us and belongs to something else. At first, I assumed it talked about how life can be changeable and unpredictable as everythings can be turned over and nothing is settled. Even it may have something to do with the philosophy as the world is not yet to be known. On the other hand, as I think otherwise, it may as well reveal a truth that it seems we are in control of everything; however, which waywould Rola choose at the first time instictively and is there any chance left for her to choose again. As a matter of fact, such a film serves as a remedy for the regret and make sup for the unsatisfactory past as we are not able to replay it in the reality. Life is like a game which is written into the memory disk by the programmers, even if it offers chances for players to start over again. Do these how-to-win game books really work as to beat the programmers? Life is unpredictable not in the terms of its possibility to be redone but in the terms of its too fliud nature to be controlled.
And the camera work and the idea to combine the animation, MTV and the electronic music with film is rather making the film innovative as an excellent expression of Modernism.
I feel it needed to illustrate with the captured picutres on the camera work.
Anyway, I still prefer to understand the film as a funny game and the directerTom Tykwe is a game lover himself.
